Our community has come together several times since 2001 to create a space at Grand Meadow Park where families can gather and play. This will be the year we get the space many have worked towards!
For those in the neighborhood, you may have noticed the progress at the park. Austin Parks Foundation has been leading the construction project along with Paradigm Contracting LLC to build the new park features. They have completed the retention pond and are starting on the storm drain that will take excess water to the sewage system. They seem about half way complete with the new trails! These will go around the whole park and crossing through the park near the other features.
This winter they have built the pathways and begun to install the irrigation lines around the park! These will eventually be both for the loop trail to water the new shade trees and for our food forest and community garden areas. When we break ground on those projects this Fall, we’ll be ready to go with irrigation lines for our project and the fence for the community garden!
The next steps will be building the nature play area, some picnic areas, installing a water fountain and a bike rack, along with re-establishing the wildflower meadow and planting trees.
