About Us

Located at 8022 Thaxton Drive, at the intersection of Thaxton Dive and Panadero Road, the land was historically used as farmland. In 1988, the City of Austin acquired a 6.4-acre parcel, then expanded the park by acquiring two smaller parcels in 2004. Now surrounded by single-family homes, the nearly ten-acre property is currently designated as a wildflower meadow. Surrounding neighbors have dreamed of adding some park features for the last 20 years!

Friends of Grand Meadow is a park steward organization who adopted the park in 2021. Our goal is to bring the community together by creating a space that benefits everyone, from the plants and animals that live in the park to the people who live nearby. We hope to create a space that is sustainable and supports the local ecosystem, while also providing a place for people to gather, connect, and enjoy nature.

We have since partnered with our neighbors, Fruitful Commons our fiscal sponsor, Austin Parks Foundation, and the City of Austin Parks and Recreation Department on hosting many events and park cleanups and in co-creating the park of our dreams which will break ground shortly!

We're passionate about creating a beautiful community garden, food forest, and gathering spaces for everyone to enjoy.
